Dream Cards of the Week #1

Here is the first installment of “Dream Cards of the Week” where I pick some amazing cards up for auction on eBay from different sports.

1. 1962 Topps #18 Manager’s Dream (Mantle & Mays) PSA MINT 9
   This card has a PSA Sports Market Report (SMR) book value of $6600. Upon looking at the PSA Population Report on this card, it is extremely hard to find a high grade such as this. There are only 7 PSA MINT 9’s and one PSA GEM MT 10 out of 1,383 cards submitted to PSA for grading. Although above the SMR value, the $8500 Buy It Now price seems fair because of the rarity of this card. In cases like these the SMR price is not an accurate indicator of the true price given the popularity of the players, as well as the rarity and age of the card.
2. 1987 Fleer Sticker #2 Michael Jordan PSA GEM MT 10
   SMR book value of $4000. Only 14 of 2,790 (0.5%) submitted to PSA are GEM MT 10. Extremely tough to find a centered Fleer Sticker card.
3. 1973 O-PEE-CHEE #130 Pete Rose PSA GEM MT 10
   The Canadian version of Topps cards were produced in drastically less quantities. This is the only PSA GEM MT 10.
4. 1968 Topps #196 Bob Griese (R/HOF) PSA MINT 9
   Rookie card! Sold for $1050. $450 above the PSA SMR book value.
5. 1975 Topps Mini #500 Nolan Ryan PSA MINT 9
   There are no PSA GEM MT 10’s. Great card.
