Here are some players from offensive play maker positions that went lower in the first round or later that
you should check out. Take a chance and grab an autographed rookie, it could be worth a lot of money. Remember when Tom Brady went in the sixth round?
- Mario Manningham (WR) Michigan - The New York Giants took the risk and drafted him in the third round. Manningham failed a drug test and told six NFL teams that he never did marijuana, meanwhile they already knew that he failed a drug test. This could be a bargain for the Giants if they keep him under wraps. Manningham was fifth all-time in receiving yards and fourth all-time in touchdowns at Michigan.
- Mike Hart (RB) Michigan - Definitely a bargain for the Colts in the 6th round. Hart was a very durable runner for Michigan who went 1,005 carries without a fumble. Could be a solid second tailback to Joseph Addai.
- Jacob Hester (FB) LSU - This third round selection by the San Diego Chargers was a key member of last years BCS National Championship team. Although he lacks the bulk of an NFL fullback, Hester has blazing speed and has developed excellent receiver skills. The combination could etch Hester a nice niche in the
NFL. - Limas Sweed (WR) Texas - Sweed was drafted in the second round by the Pittsburgh Steelers. The former Texas Longhorn reminds me of formed Steeler WR Plaxico Burress because of his height and long arms. The Two-time All-Big 12 player was cut down last season by a wrist injury, which is why he went lower in the draft.
- Joe Flacco (QB) Delaware - A potential replacement for the retired Steve McNair. Flacco was the Baltimore Ravens first round pick, but he came from a weak conference so this could be a risk. On the positive side he is very tall and has a strong arm. Some say that he could be the best QB in this year’s draft.
