Every now and again you will see somebody selling an amazingly rare 1982 Topps baseball error card that contains the graphics on the back but no writing at all. It’s not rare, it’s FAKE! DON’T BUY IT! If you were to send that to PSA or BGS (better sending a card from ‘82 to PSA) neither of them would grade the card and deem it a counterfeit.
These cards started popping up in the early 1990’s in uncut 8 card sheets. The front of the card is discolored somewhat and the bordering around the players is poor. In addition, the green on the back of the card is not the same shade as a genuine ‘82 Topps. With a comparison to the authentic PSA 10 you can especially see the color quality difference in the background of Bob Bonner’s picture. Cal Ripken’s rookie is not the only fake that was produced, a couple of years ago I remember seeing a Pete Rose on eBay as well.
The bottom line is not to get screwed out of your hard-earned money. Stay away from eBay user *chads*cards* who runs an eBay store named OL’ DUSTY SHOEBOX.
Happy Collecting
